One of my favorite episodes of The Office is when Michael Scott tells his employees to pack a swimsuit for a leadership training trip, and then takes them on a “booze cruise” on Lake Wallenpaupack in January. The staff are obviously pissed at Michael, but for the most part end up having a good time. I’ve been on a few evening cruises, and I’ve always had a great time. I guess that is why Entertainment Cruises is doing so well. They’re a company with “26 vessels serving eight cities with six unique cruise products.” Entertainment Cruises’ offerings range from fine dining and dancing to speedboat tours, with a lot in between. They currently operate fleets in Baltimore, Boston, Chicago, New Jersey, New York, Norfolk, Philadelphia, and Washington DC.
While Entertainment Cruises has only been around since 2006, the company was formed when two companies (Spirit Cruises and Premier Yachts) with 45 years of combined experience in the industry merged. While Entertainment Cruises’ core offerings are pretty simple–they give people a new way to experience a city–there is a lot that goes on beyond the scenes. What I found really interesting was the company’s service philosophy. It sounds like they put a huge emphasis on making the guest experience special. There isn’t much more to say about Entertainment Cruises. You should go to their website to check out their boats and different cruise options. If you get excited about the business, take a look at their Careers page. There are a ton of on boat and customer facing positions for you to browse–I’m only going to call out the more “corporate” jobs that might appeal to new or recent grads.
There are lots of options in lots of locations. Hopefully one of them is a good fit for you.
