His site has been around since 2004 and has a reputation for being Hollywood’s sassiest website delivering the juiciest celebrity gossip. What was originally started in a coffee shop as a fun journalistic endeavor is now a company in its own right. Perez Hilton’s website is a blog, written by a Blogger. A Blogger writes on the web in depth about a particular topic on a regular basis. As a Blogger you have a lot of choices: you can elect to represent a company, spreading their story and sharing news relevant to their customers, or you can write on your own site about a topic you enjoy, or you can work for a web-publishing focused company creating content around a particular topic.

A blogger uses a blog to tell the stories that interest a target audience. A blog is a website with regular posts displayed in reverse chronological order. Generally the blogger will stick to a particular topic, and write in great depth about it: anything from photography to spirituality to recipes to personal diaries to hobbies.

To be a Blogger you’ll generally need a bachelor’s degree in Communication, Marketing, or English. Beyond that, you should have excellent writing and story-telling skills that you’ll need to be able to adapt for different audiences and platforms. Work on developing your voice to communicate effectively with listeners. You’ll need to be able to work effectively under pressure, and meet tight deadlines and function independently as well as on a team. Furthermore it’s important you have empathy and patience and the ability to build rapport and draw information from people. You also might need to be able to conduct effective internet research, use relevant computer software for audio editing, and manipulate visual images or edit video.
