If you want to study or protect the world around us, you have lots of possibilities. A few of them include:

  • Environmental scientist: Study the composition of our environment and advise on ways to protect or clean up a location
  • Environmental engineer: Design efficient environmentally friendly products and services
  • Trip leader: Lead group trips into nature
  • Educator: Teach the environment at a school or outdoor center
  • Lobbyist: Promote change in environmental policy
  • Non-profit: Work with a non-profit promoting environmental change or conservation

Because these options are so broad, it’s hard to give firm requirements for all of them. Having a bachelor’s degree and an interest in the environment will only help you. If you’re interested in researching or teaching at the university, you’ll need an advanced degree.
