If you think Disney World when thinking about Florida, that image is accurate: Tourism is a major industry in Florida, led by amusement parks such as Disney World, SeaWorld, Universal Studios, and Busch Gardens. The hundreds of miles of beaches in Florida also attract tourists, contributing to the state’s tourism business. If you’re interested in travel, Florida is home to many ports that see cruise ships, including PortMiami, the world’s largest cruise ship port.
Florida is also a leading state in agriculture, particularly in citrus fruits such as oranges, grapefruit, and tangerines. The state produces the majority of citrus fruits for the entire nation, while also leading in sugarcane and tomato production.
Technology and research are also strong industries in Florida, particularly aerospace, medicine, and research. Cape Canaveral’s presence in Florida has developed a strong aerospace industry. Miami’s Civic Center is one of the largest concentrations of medical and research centers.
