Illinois is also one of the nation’s leaders in manufacturing. Approximately 75% of the state’s manufacturers are located in northeastern Illinois. Energy resources also create opportunities in Illinois, both in traditional and alternative energy sources. Illinois has been a leader in nuclear power, with six plants and eleven reactors producing over a quarter of the state’s energy in 2010.
