International development deals with creating a better quality of life for everyone in all parts of the world. Working in international development can mean working in one of many areas, including:

  • Decreasing poverty levels
  • Improving healthcare
  • Educating people
  • Urban planning
  • Disaster preparedness
  • Introducing fresh water

A lot of jobs in international development are in non-profits, international organizations, or local, state, and federal governments. You can work directly with the people affected or in administrative departments, including fundraising, communications, advocacy, or project coordination. Most of these jobs require a bachelor’s degree and passion for the cause.
