There is no single path to becoming a systems administrator. You can get started in some cases with an associate’s degree or no degree and some experience; however, a bachelor’s degree in a field related to computer science or information technology is encouraged. Most important are computer and problem solving proficiency, as you’ll be using both on a daily basis. You also need to be able to learn new technologies quickly.
