Located in New England, Vermont is the sixth smallest state and second least populated. Its largest cities are Burlington, South Burlington, Rutland, Barre, and Montpelier.

Agriculture is still a part of Vermont’s economy, particularly dairy and cattle. Vermont is also the nation’s largest producer of maple syrup. While the state’s focus is more on finished food products than on agriculture, the original agricultural focus is still there.

Tourism is big in Vermont. Skiing, snowboarding, hunting, and other outdoor sports, along with Vermont’s state parks and attractions, have caused a tourism industry to spring up.

Health care is a major industry in Vermont, along with insurance. Other major industries include trade, transportation, and utilities.

A few major companies headquartered in Vermont include Ben & Jerry’s, Orvis, Ibex Outdoor Clothing, and Green Mountain Coffee Roasters.
