I was really tempted to cover a high frequency trading firm today after what happened yesterday (please, if you do anything today, take 15 minutes and read a couple of articles about yesterday’s events). I decided it against it, but if you are interested in HFT jobs, check out our post on Jump Trading. Instead of talking about financial markets, we’re going to stick with this week’s unintentional theme of science, kind of. AudienceScience, not to be confused with Crowd Science (a company that we featured a while back), is a Bellevue, WA based digital media company that focuses on taking a scientific approach to online marketing. Their approach puts an extremely strong emphasis on behavioral targeting and moving beyond a demographic approach to advertising.
I guess if I really wanted to link AudienceScience to the May 6th Panic or whatever you want to call it, I could mention the fact that their clients include Wall Street Journal Digital, Financial Times, Nikkei.com, and a number of other brands related to financial news. I’ll bet they collected some really strange behavioral data across those sites yesterday. In case it’s not clear, AudienceScience is very much an advertising business. Their value proposition is all about ensuring that they “deliver your message to the right audience, at the right time, in the right place,” and they’re using extremely sophisticated technology to do so. To get a better feel for the kind of work that AudienceScience does, you can check out their Case Studies or take a look at AudienceTargeting.com. And what about careers at AudienceScience? There are some options for new grads posted in their Job Listings. In their Bellevue, WA office they are looking for a User Experience Development Engineer and a Paralegal/Legal Assistant, while in New York City, they need a Campaign Coordinator (this is by far the most “entry level” of the jobs). They also have opportunities that require more experience in Los Angeles, Santa Barbara, and San Francisco. To apply for any of the positions, e-mail your resume and cover letter, preferably as Microsoft Word attachments, to jobs@audiencescience.com, and be sure to specify the position that you’re applying for.
