Typically, making it easy for customers to pay you is a good business decision (unless you’re one of those scummy companies that loves to tack on late fees). Unfortunately for some businesses, accepting payments isn’t always easy. This is especially true for certain industries like online gaming, dating, and rewards. Paymentwall is a San Francisco, CA based company that offers “the leading digital payments platform for globally monetizing digital goods and services.” They offer payment options for over 100 locations in more than 25 languages (and offices in Berlin, Kiev, Istanbul, and Manila) with options including “credit card, debit card, mobile payments, land-line payments, prepaid cards, ATM, terminal transactions, bank transfers, direct bills” and more.

What I like about Paymentwall is that as much as they’re about helping businesses monetize and accept payments, they’re still strongly focused on consumers. They want to ensure that the only thing painful about paying for something online is the hit to your bank account. This is really hard to do because fraud is such a big problem in the payments space. If you’re too customer friendly, you end up losing money pretty quickly. I don’t recall having paid for anything using Paymentwall, so I can’t tell you if they live up to their talk, but their home page shows a livestream of transactions happening all over the world (no identifying details included, of course).
