Did any of you hear James Blake’s rant on sportsmanship in the Olympics? The man has a point. Tennis is a gentleman’s (gentleperson’s?) game and sportsmanship is an essential part of the sport. That’s probably why Tenacity, a non-profit organization, has chosen tennis as a means of transforming youth, building community, and introducing life skills and literacy. Their motto is “Game. Set. Life.” and we think that it’s quite fitting. We hope that Tenacity is not only transforming youth into literate young adults with great life skills, but also into young adults who will fess up when a ball grazes their rackets.

Game. Set. Jobs.

Tenacity was founded in 1999, and has since served more than 20,000 Boston students who “otherwise would lack a safe, productive, and healthy after-school and summer environment.” They provide high-quality literacy and tennis programs that build academic skills and improve fitness, while developing strong bonds between the students and Tenacity’s caring staff. Although Tennis isn’t a team sport (doubles doesn’t count), Tenacity is always looking for talented people who are committed to their objectives to join their team. Tenacity’s Jobs page currently has a few listings that look appropriate for entry-level candidates. These include Office Assistant, Academic Coordinator, and Tennis Coordinator, as well as two part time positions – Tennis Instructor and Alumni Outreach Associate. You can apply through e-mail, but the e-mail address that you should send your cover letter and resume to depends on the position, so look carefully at the job descriptions when applying. All jobs with Tenacity are located in the Boston, MA area.
